T20 World Cup 2007 Indian Team Players List – India hadn’t played this format until it played a few one off T20Is coming into this one both India and Pakistan. They haven’t participated in the T20 world cup before and it was in here that the India played its first number of T20Is series comprehensively under the very young India captain’s MS Dhoni leadership and not only did the young Indian team make it to the finals by beating Pakistan by 5 runs in the finals against Pakistan in Johannesburg, South Africa on September 24,

The way it was the first time when Dhoni was young captain of Indian team (any form of the cricket). He steered his side to their solitary and only T20 world championship triumph in six championships staged.

Having dealt with Pakistan handsomely in the process, the Indians thus clinched the T20 title without the presence of star players, and indeed, beaten many giants of the game like England, South Africa and Australia in the process.

Yuvraj Singh

Yuvraj Singh’s six sixes in a single over by Stuart Broad of the ICC T20 World Cup 2007 was definitely a highlight of the way in which this sports was played. The southpaw became the second Indian player in professional cricket after Ravi Shastri to register a triple century. Second on the list of the leading six hitters in the tournament behind Craig McMillan but who went with 13 maximums was Yuvraj on 12 big hits.

Gautam Gambhir

Gautam Gambhir was the highest run getter for India in ICC 2007 T20 World Cup with 227 runs in six innings. The anchor in the final helped India get up for a competitive total against the board, knocking 75 runs in the opener.

Virender Sehwag

The swashbuckling opener played a vital part in India’s rapid start in the power play overs. Although the Nawab of Najafgarh failed to record big scores, he scored at a healthy strike-rate of 139 through the tournament.

Robin Uthappa

Robin Uthappa struggled hard with an average of 19 in ICC T20 World Cup 2007 scoring 113 runs. But Karnataka-born player scored a handy 50 to revive India’s innings in the first match against Pakistan in the group stage.

Rohit Sharma

His first outing with the bat at the T20 World Cup produced a measured half century for Rohit Sharma against South Africa. With responsibilities as a finisher in the final, Rohit chipped in with 30 off 16 balls that proved to be the difference between the two sides.

Dinesh Karthik

Regular wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik was picked as reserves wicket keeper in the squad and appeared as a pure batter in the middle order at the start. But while Karthik had to stay outside the playing XI for the latter part of the tournament, the inclusion of Joginder meant a place on the bench for Karthik. Now someone like Dinesh Karthik’s spectacular diving catch to dismiss Graeme Smith in a pressure match was one of the catches of the tournament.

Irfan Pathan

Irfan Pathan was an unsung hero in India’s maiden T20 World Cup title. Pathan conceded 10 wickets during six innings with the ball and game changing figures of 3/16 against Pakistan in the final.

Yusuf Pathan

Yusuf Pathan made his India T20 World Cup debut in the final in place of injured Virender Sehwag, and got India going at a brisk rate by cornering Mohammad Asif for 13 off the first over. However, he just wouldn’t get going and was eventually bowled by an 8 ball 15.

RP Singh

India’s leading wicket-taker in the tournament was RP Singh, with 12 across six innings. The left-arm seamer was second in the joint highest wicket tally in the tournament behind Australia’s Stuart Clark.

Joginder Sharma

Joginder last over in the final was crucial for India’s T20 World Cup win. He was add in the squad to bolster the bowling attack and he snared four wickets in four matches. The prize one being the scalp of Misbah-ul-Haq, including an epic win for India in the final.

Harbhajan Singh

Harbhajan played a key role for India with seven wickets in seven matches in the middle overs of an innings. Though India lost and Harbhajan’s best figures of 2/24 against New Zealand weren’t enough to help them win. They did help Mumbai reach the final for the fourth time.

Ajit Agarkar

In the absence of senior fast bowlers, Ajit Agarkar was expected to their leading bowler but starred in just two matches of the ICC T20 World Cup 2007. The Mumbai seamer picked one wicket, his only noteworthy contribution which came against Pakistan in the group stages.

Sreesanth

RP Singh and Sreeshanth were a potent combination with the new ball for India. In the semi final against Australia, the Kerala seamer took six wickets with figures of 4-0-12-2. He also took that catch to get rid of Misbah-ul-Haq in the final as India became champions of the inaugural T20 World Cup.

Piyush Chawla

In India’s 15 player saga for the ICC T20 World Cup 2007. Piyush Chawla was the only one who did not play a single match of the tournament.
